Violent Femmes Milwaukee Concert reviews
Notherly Island could do better
Venue: This was an interesting first time (and probably last) at Northerly Island. Our tickets showed 6pm start time. We arrived at 6pm after dealing with traffic to find huge lines everywhere. If the show was supposed to start 6pm then they definitely weren't on time. If the show was supposed to start later, then the tickets need to state that the venue opens at 6pm. We rushed for no reason since it didn't actually start until well after 7pm. Then it's an outdoor venue and had been raining all day. We were told we couldn't bring in our umbrellas. If you are going to do that to people, then you need to make that very clear on the tickets. Ridiculous. Spent 30 minutes going back to my car to return my umbrellas.
With the opening act only using a guitar, why did it take another 30 minutes to get the next band set up. Then the final act took over 40 minutes to set up and didn't start until 9:46pm. That's even more ridiculous!
Acts: Violent Femmes were great. I didn't know all the songs but they put on a great show and really engaged the audience. Echo & The Bunnymen were interesting. I kind of understand the mystique of having no one visible but it was very awkward for the audience. You really couldn't get excited about the band other than when they played a song that everyone knew. They were blowing through the set list. Very underwhelming since they have great music.
